Symantec Announces Enterprise License Agreement With the Department of Defense

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that it has reached an enterprise software licensing agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, making a wide range of Symantec product technologies and services available with pre-negotiated, volume pricing to all DOD component agencies, including the Coast Guard, intelligence community, and supporting contractors. The agreement was facilitated through the DOD’s Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI), a joint project aimed at establishing enterprise-wide DOD software and information sharing practices.

“Symantec is committed to supporting our long-time customers in the defense and intelligence communities with proven products and services,” said David Saunders, vice president, public sector, Symantec. “By reducing procurement and administration overhead, our agreement through the ESI initiative permits these customers to focus greater resources on technology planning, implementation, and strategic consultations with Symantec and our partners.”

Under the terms of Symantec’s ESI agreement, Symantec hardware, software licenses, and professional services are available immediately for authorized DOD and contractor purchasing at ESI pricing. Administration of Symantec’s ESI contract is performed by immixGroup, a government business consulting and channel management company that provides GSA (General Services Administration) Schedule management for Symantec solutions. Products from the former VERITAS Software solution portfolio are not included in the terms of Symantec’s current ESI contract, which predate the closure of Symantec’s merger with VERITAS Software.
