Gartner Announces Inaugural Identity & Access Management Summit

25-26 June 2007, London Hilton Metropole, London, UK

Gartner today announced it will launch a European annual Summit on the topic of identity and access management technologies and best practice next month. The inaugural identity & access management (IAM) Summit will be held from 25-26 June 2007 in London, United Kingdom.

“European organisations looking to increase transparency and business agility are starting to open up systems to staff, customers and partners. At the same time, the need to secure applications, data and networks has never been more pressing,” said Ant Allan, research vice-president and co-chair of the Summit. “A new generation of identity, access and compliance technology is on its way. However, there are more ways to slip up than there are ways to get it right. At the Summit, Gartner will provide delegates with the informed business and technology advice to maximise the potential of IAM technology.”

The Summit is designed as an intensive, two-day programme to guide chief information officers (CIOs) and chief information security officers (CISOs) through the identity and access management issues, implementation considerations, strategy and technology roadmap they need to consider in order to secure their organisation. The Summit will explore how IAM technologies can increase security, drive down the cost of security and act as a business enabler. Sessions will cover areas such as IAM best practices, how IAM interfaces with technology areas such as auditing, networking and compliance.

At the Summit, leading Gartner analysts will provide guidance on the current state of IAM technologies as well as offering insight into future developments in this area.

Key Gartner presentations at the Summit include:
Scenario: Identity and Access Management
Building a Community of Trust
The Key to Consumer Security
Who Are You And What Are You Doing on My Network?
IAM Audit and Compliance
IAM and Enterprise Architecture

In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to hear the perspectives of end-user organisations such as Volkswagen, KPN, Fedict and SNS REAAL as well as listen to the guest keynote speaker, James Hall, chief executive, Identity & Passport Service.

In 2007, Gartner organises 14 Summits in Europe on a wide range of IT industry topics.
