Venture Design and Helicomm Announce MineTracerTM Certification

Wireless Mesh Network Provides Real-Time, Accurate Location of Miners

Venture Design Services Inc. (VDSI) and Helicomm, Inc., leading partners in the provision of voice and data wireless networks for the mining industry, today announced the certification of Mobile Location Transponder (MLT) from their standards-based underground wireless two way communication and tracking system, MineTracerTM, by the Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA). The MLT meets the requirements of Title Code 30 of Federal Regulations, Part 23 for use in gassy underground mines. Helicomm will show MLT at Longwall USA 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA, 5 June to 7 June in Booth #334.

MineTracerTM consists of wireless mesh Access Points, low-power Mobile Tags-MLT and application management software to enable real-time services over a wireless mesh network. This solution enables mine operators to identify where a miner is located, track his location, send a signal about mine conditions and respond to emergency needs. MineTracerTM is designed for real-time location applications that require reliability, network capacity and ease of installation.
