HP Announces High-definition TVs Featuring Wobulation Technology Now Shipping Nationwide
HP today announced that its new microdisplay high-definition TVs, which incorporate HP’s patented wobulation technology, as well as the company’s new LCD and plasma HDTVs, are shipping to major U.S. electronics stores in time for the holidays. HP’s wobulation technology gives customers the highest resolution available for high-definition televisions (HDTVs) on the market. Wobulation doubles the addressable resolution on the TVs, making it easy to view both native and compressed high-definition content from any source. Because the technology supports the format and frame rates for all TV programming, movies or video, there is no limit to the kind of high-definition content viewers can enjoy.
“In most microdisplays, increasing resolution means adding more pixels, which can significantly increase the cost of the TV,” said Jan-Luc Blakborn, director of digital entertainment – North America, HP. “Thanks to wobulation, consumers get a TV with stunning imagery, extraordinarily bright colors and deeper, darker blacks that’s very affordably priced.” Wobulation is part of the broader set of innovative HP Visual Fidelity technologies built into all the company’s televisions to offer customers photorealistic sharpness, rich colors, clarity and image definition not found anywhere else.
