NEC to Provide On-demand Network Service

New service realizes a 20% reduction in Omron’s network management costs

TOKYO, June 7th, 2007 – NEC Corporation has begun supplying a new on-demand network service to enterprises in Japan. This new service is the first to be supplied as a measured-rated network service in Japan, including office telephones, network equipment, connection lines, and other managing services.

The new solution integrates a wide variety of enterprise network systems and services, including in-house telecommunications, LAN/WAN networks, and the telecom equipment required for services provided on an on-demand basis. With this service, customers can change their network systems fast, flexibly, and at a minimum cost. Furthermore, as part of the service, NEC will optimize customer’s network systems, enabling customers to freely manage their own network systems, as well as reduce their network maintenance costs.

Omron Corporation will be the first company to adopt the service, through which it can achieve a 20% cut in its network management costs. Omron has adopted this service for 38 of its domestic offices to enhance its IT infrastructure, and improve flexibility and reliability.

NEC aims to provide this service to up to 30 companies over the next three years and will gradually expand its current 80-people strong sales force in line with growth.
