AmbironTrustWave Endorses New Extended Validation SSL Certificate Guidelines

AmbironTrustWave, a leading provider of data security and compliance management solutions – including Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates – has endorsed Version 1.0 of the guidelines for issuing Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates announced by the CA/Browser forum.

AmbironTrustWave, a leading provider of data security and compliance management solutions – including Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates – has endorsed Version 1.0 of the guidelines for issuing Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates announced by the CA/Browser forum.

“EV SSL certificates are the next generation of online validation credentials for businesses seeking to increase consumer confidence in their web sites,” said Robert J. McCullen, Chairman and CEO of AmbironTrustWave. “As a Certificate Authority, we welcome the additional level of verification of EV SSL certificates. By validating beyond the domain, for example, our EV SSL certificates enable online merchants to authenticate their identity for their customers.”

Through its acquisition last week of Certificate Authority, SecureTrust Corporation, AmbironTrustWave is now directly issuing SSL certificates with an emphasis on the benefits of EV.

“Online scams such as phishing can’t be mitigated with traditional SSL certificates and continue to cost businesses and consumers millions of dollars each year in fraud and lost time. Not only does an EV certificate require additional rigor to validate a business’ identity, it offers indicators to the consumer – such as the green address bar within a browser – to help consumers identify secure websites,” added McCullen.

About extended validation SSL

Revocation: Improperly used EV SSL certificates will be revoked quickly in accordance with the new guidelines

Eligible Organizations: EV SSL certificates are available for all types of businesses, including government entities and both incorporate and unincorporated businesses.

Timing: Version 1.0 of the guidelines for issuing EV SSL certificates was ratified today by the CA/Browser forum and is effective immediately.
