Nokia Siemens Networks triples MobileOne’s downlink speeds per site

Nokia Siemens Networks today announced that it has tripled M1’s HSPA (high speed packet access) wireless broadband service speeds to 10.8 Mbps per site, from 3.6 Mbps. Nokia Siemens Networks’ successful upgrade of M1’s network underscores the technology vendor’s leadership in HSPA globally.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ HSPA solution allows M1’s HSPA network to increase its data speeds per site from the current 3.6 Mbps to 10.8 Mbps per site, resulting in a three-fold downlink capacity increase in the network. This will ensure high speed connections even in high load conditions, as the number of HSPA users increases in the network. This will enhance end user experience in one of the most advanced and demanding in mobile communications markets globally.

“Nokia Siemens Network is the leading vendor of HSPA globally, and M1 is one of the most advanced mobile operators in APAC. The close co-operation between us has helped to strengthen their lead in wireless broadband technology,” said Alex Tan, Country Head, Singapore, Nokia Siemens Networks. “This network upgrade underscores our commitment to our customers in terms of advanced technology support.”

Nokia Siemens Networks is the industry leader in WCDMA/HSPA, having deployed 97 WCDMA radio network references, and a supplier to 60 commercial HSDPA networks to date. Their high-performing HSPA could be activated with a simple software upgrade to existing WCDMA networks, enabling cost-effective and faster rollouts.

HSPA enhances mobile broadband with two key technologies, HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) enabling data speeds of up to 42 Mbps in the downlink, and up to 11 Mbps in the uplink in the future.
