Swarmcast, the provider of multi-source streaming technology for high-quality online video delivery, has appointed Kelly C. Egan as its vice president of business development. He will help the company focus on enabling businesses to improve the quality of their online video experience and monetize their offerings. Egan is responsible for all facets of Swarmcast’s business development, marketing and sales activities and will play an integral role in corporate and product strategy.

Prior to joining Swarmcast, Egan served as the director of entertainment strategy at Best Buy, where he spearheaded initiatives targeting new media distribution platforms, as well as mobile entertainment and digital content opportunities. “Kelly’s extensive background in entertainment and media will be invaluable in planning Swarmcast’s expansion in these industries,” said Justin Chapweske, founder and CEO of Swarmcast. “His knowledge and experience in entertainment, media and Internet technology combined with his proven leadership skills make him a great asset to the team.”

“I look forward to joining the executive team at Swarmcast, and playing an active role in shaping the future of Internet video technology,” said Egan. “With the explosive popularity of Internet video right now, organizations are looking to monetize the opportunity. Swarmcast makes this technically and economically possible, so we have an exciting period ahead of us.”

Egan has participated as a speaker at numerous industry events on topics related to media and entertainment.
