Gennum Exploring Strategic Alternatives for Audio and Wireless and Manufacturing Operations

High-Speed Mixed Signal Initiative Drives New Opportunities, Business Model

In a continuing effort to streamline its product and technology portfolio, Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND) announced it is considering various strategic alternatives for its Audio and Wireless Division and Manufacturing Operations. The company’s Audio and Wireless Division includes advanced hearing instrument technology that is leveraged in wireless headsets and platforms for next- generation digital wireless hearing devices. Today’s announcement is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to more closely focus on high-speed mixed signal technologies and products for the video and data communications markets.

As part of this effort, Gennum has been working closely with Genuity Capital Markets to assist in its review and consideration of strategic alternatives. Gennum is presently in discussions with several parties regarding a potential transaction or transactions. However, there can be no assurance that any third party transaction will be completed. “Over the years, Gennum has been a pioneer in driving new technologies and products, including those in audio and wireless, as well as our core focus of data communications and video,” said Dr. Franz Fink, President and CEO of Gennum. “At this time, we believe that by focusing our energy and resources on our world-class high-speed mixed signal product portfolio, Gennum will be better positioned to secure and gain global market share. As a result, we are considering various options for our Audio and Wireless Division and associated Manufacturing Operations.”
