HINDUSTAN MOTORS LAUNCHES THE ALL NEW MONTERO

New Delhi, Monday June 25, 2007: Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today launched the All New Montero at an elegant function in the capital. The vehicle was unveiled by Mr. R Santhanam, Managing Director Hindustan Motors, Mr. Kazuyuki Kambayashi, General Manager – Asia and ASEAN B Department Mitsubishi Motors and Mr. Shinichi Kurihara, Executive Officer and Corporate General Manager, Product Strategy in the presence of a galaxy of senior Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi team members

The “All New Mitsubishi Montero” brings to India leading edge SUV technology & features. The All-New Montero will replace the existing model, which was till recently being marketed in India. The vehicle is currently being made available as a completely built unit (CBU) and will be marketed through the network of 35 Mitsubishi Motors dealership across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. R Santhanam, Managing Director, Hindustan Motors, said, “The Montero & Pajero have already established themselves as one of the most successful and greatest performing on and off road vehicles in the world. All the learning on performance, durability & safety from Mitsubishi’s continuous wins in Dakar Rally and other such gruelling rallies has been incorporated in the All New Montero. The new Montero has a number of technological features that give it supreme leading edge performance and unmatched on and off road capabilities.”

Also present on the occasion, Mr. Kazuyuki Kambayashi, General Manager – Asia and ASEAN B Department Mitsubishi Motors said, “We are very happy to launch the new Mitsubishi Montero in India. The new Montero has been a roaring success globally and we are confident that this will appeal to the Indian customers as well”.

The all new Mitsubishi Montero now packs in a new generation high refinement Turbo Charged Intercooled 3.2 litre, CRDi diesel engine, which generates a heady torque of 383 Nm and peak power of 164.5PS. The engine, mated to an ever-reliable superior 5-Speed manual gearbox and a Super Select 4WD system (SS4-II) and overseen by a microprocessor controlled ASTC system (Active Stability and Traction Control) ensures primal excitement and superior driveability.
