INTERNTIONAL CONFERENCE ON IGITAL LEARNING TO BEGIN IN CAPITAL FROM JULY 31
New Delhi – July 18, 2007 About 500 experts from more than 40 countries are expected to take part in the four day international conference on ‘Digital Learning’, which is part of eIndia 2007 to begin in capital from July 31, 2007 .
Educationists, Information Technology (IT) Experts and representatives of Computer and education related digital devices manufacturers will be taking part in the four day conference being organized by Department of Information Technology, Government of India and Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS: www.csdms.in ) will be discussing discuss common challenges and extraordinary solutions, ideas and operating approaches towards e-Learning.
Eperts will also be discussing ways and means to take digital learning to every nook and corner of the country and developing low cost educational softwares with involvement of students for faster spread of Information and Communication Technologies ..
Using the internet for research is becoming popular with all age group students in the country – Typing a topic into ‘Google’ usually gets results faster than trawling through books in the library. Most of the urban schools in India now give home work , which is linked with internet downloads.
Mr Ravi Gupta, director , CSDMS said “the main stress of the conference will be on bringing down cost of educational softwares and making them user friendly and les complicated’
He stressed on the need of having open source softwares for education in country like India where most of the schools and students cannot afford these expensive softwares.
A virtual interactive class room showcasing digital learning by Globus Infocom will be set up during the conference . Latest technologies will be showcased for students and educational experts
