IBM Expands Number One Position in Global Server Revenue
Gartner reported today that in 4Q 2004, IBM has extended its lead as the number one server vendor in the world based on revenue [1]. According to Gartner, IBM was #2 in Intel-based revenue for Linux® and Windows and IBM was #1 in UNIX® revenue in the 4th quarter of 2004.
Gartner data shows that IBM gained in worldwide revenue year-to-year in several key server areas [1]. Highlights from Gartner include:
IBM expanded its number one position in overall servers gaining worldwide revenue year-to-year.
IBM claimed worldwide UNIX revenue leadership in 4Q04.
IBM was #2 in revenue for servers utilizing Intel CPU’s (Itanium, Pentium, Xeon, Celeron), running Windows and/or Linux in 4Q04.
IBM is the number one vendor in 4Q04 for blade server revenue.
Of the top three vendors, in 4Q04 IBM was the world’s fastest-growing vendor in revenue for the UNIX, Linux and blade servers on a year-to-year basis.
