BLUE TOOTH INTERACTIVE BOARDS REACH STUDENTS WITH COOL FACTOR, REPLACING OLD CHALKBOARDS

New Delhi August 6, 2007 Electronic Boards (interactive electronic whiteboards), LCD projectors, computers, Bluetooth class pad, document cameras and Wireless Internet are fast replacing the traditional chalkboards in schools, colleges and universities in the country.

At the start of each day in a interactive class room, a teacher fires up a laptop and video projector and beams the day’s agenda onto a big-screen version of a 21st century interactive white board .

Latest ICT based interactive technologies in Classrooms give the teacher and the student freedom to teach and learn from anywhere in the classroom. The teacher explains using an Interactive Whiteboard and the student interacts through a Blue Tooth Class Pad. Ready made content is interactively taught and live experiments, diagram, maps, 3d objects are discussed through a document camera.

In this process through the interactivity of the students and the teachers instant content is developed digitally.

Welcome to the future of teaching.

As schools across the country try to find ways to reach tech-savvy children in the video-game and Internet-saturated Information Age, these new “Interactive Boards” have emerged as a tool for teachers to engage students.

“It turns learning in the classroom into the inter-activity the kids are used to at home playing games on Computers and while on internet.” Using Interactive Boards has made made the kids more motivated learners.” Said Ashish Dham of Globus Infocom Limited (GIL) , a company which has taken the initiative for manufacturing solutions for digital educational hardware products like interactive boards, pads, and document cameras in the country.

.

“In a digital class room most of the teachers instruction time is spent with the small wireless internet connected School pad with electronic board, which is linked to the teachers laptop computer. It allows teacher to link to educational videos, Web sites, slide-show presentations, lessons.

This kind of hands-on involvement with each lesson is especially beneficial to students with learning disabilities, those who have a hard time staying focused and children who learn more efficiently through interaction.

“The benefits of the technology far outweigh the costs, and Globus is finding ways and means to bring down the cost further to make these technologies affordable. The company has started its own manufacturing of boards to bring down the cost.” Said Alex Daniel, Director , GIL.

“The modern class rooms have shown that concepts get fast into minds of children and understand better homework completion rates are up as much as 60 percent, because if the student has missed writing the given homework in class , he can down load it from internet what was taught in class or home work given from the internet at home” Daniel said.

The entire modern classroom sessions motivate, engage and excite students.

Major schools, colleges, technical institutes, medical colleges in the country are joining the digital age by investing in technology, equipment and training for students and staff.

“Kids need to be facile with technology because that’s the way the world operates now and will continue to evolve in that direction. This is our effort to ensure that our teachers and students have the equipment they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom.” Dham Added.

Interactive Classroom is truly the conduit to apply ICT in classrooms at Universities, Colleges, Schools, Technical/Engg. Institutes, Polytechnics.

GIL has developed a portal with help of renowned academicians with focus on on digital content, distance learning, e-Learning. We have modules for most of the classes and interesting content on engineering, medical, dental streams and have planned capsules for various kinds of polytechnic subjects.

But the primary focus again is on the secondary education Smart Classroom, the flagship programme which gives flexibility for a teacher to improvise and interact with children The gadgets that are packed with the Smart Classroom, help children ask lot of interesting questions, motivate them and make the session extremely participatory
