Leicht, Krisiloff And Ambrose Each Land Top-Seven Finishes For Ford Racing In The Nascar Busch Series
Stephen Leicht, Kyle Krisiloff and Marcos Ambrose each raced their Fusions to top-seven finishes in a wild NASCAR Busch Series race in Montreal this weekend while Ricky Rudd was the top Ford finisher in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race at Pocono Raceway. NASCAR was making its first appearance in the modern era in Canada, and the a crowd of nearly 130,000 for the weekend saw plenty of action.
With only a few laps to go in the Busch race, it appeared that two Ford drivers might take the top two spots in the NAPA Autoparts 200, but an on track incident between Ambrose and Robby Gordon took both drivers out of the first and second positions. Ambrose and Gordon had been battling for the lead coming out of a caution with four laps to go before Gordon made contact with Ambrose, dropping the drivers from the front of the pack.
“I’m disappointed,” said Ambrose. “I promised myself that I wouldn’t get mad. This is an opportunity for me over here. I’m thankful for what I’ve been given and today is a bad day, but tomorrow we’ll look to next week. I’m pleased that I’m here (from Australia) and holding my own against some of America’s best.” Leicht was the top Ford driver in the Busch Series race. His effort moved him up one spot to seventh in the point standings.
“We had a great run,” said Leicht. “I’m really proud of all of my CitiFinancial Ford guys, they did a good job today and all week. We’ve been good since we’ve been here our Fusion was running good. We were getting better and better.”Sunday’s NEXTEL Cup race, the Pennsylvania 500, was held at Pocono Raceway. Ricky Rudd, who made his record 55 th career start at the 2.5-mile track, was the top Ford driver and made the biggest jump of any driver in the standings, moving up three positions to 26 th. His 13 th place finish is tied for his third-best finish of the season.
