Carl Edwards Looks Forward To The Michigan Race – Whenever The Rain Stops

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THE LAST TWO DAYS? “We’ve just been playing Nintendo in the motorhome, and we got cabin fever last night and we went to the university in Adrian and they let us use the gym there, so me and my trainer, Dean, and my motorcoach driver, Tom, we went and worked out. And then we came back to the motorhome for as long as we could, and we took our little Polaris out and ran around the the infield in the rain and met some folks, and had a pretty good time. Really, just trying to kill time, and just hoping the rain will go away so we can race. We’ve got some an awesome race car this weekend, I can’t wait for the start of the race. It’s going to be good.”

WHAT WERE YOUR PLANS FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW, AND HAS THE WEATHER MESSED THOSE UP? “Today, I didn’t have any big plans. This week’s fine for a rain delay for me. I don’t have a lot going on this week. Next week, we’ve got some testing and stuff, but this week I was just going to go back to Missouri, and the only thing I have to do this week is do my weekly check-up for my thumb, that’s it. Other than that, just getting ready to go to Bristol.”

YOUR CAR WAS VERY GOOD IN PRACTICE ON SATURDAY. DOES THE RAIN, AND CHANGING TRACK CONDITION, MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO YOU? WILL THAT MAKE YOU NERVOUS? “I’m not nervous about it. You never know. That’s a great question. But the way this weekend’s schedule is set up, when we ran our practice sessions on Friday, right off the bat, we didn’t have a lot of rubber on the race track, obviously. And then Saturday, since there was no race Friday night, Saturday there was minimal amount of rubber on the race track, so I don’t feel like it’ll be much of a difference. In fact, with the Busch race running and then us getting this rain, the track might actually be more like practice. I think the first 100 laps or so will be a lot like practice, and then by 120 laps in, or something, it’ll be a lot like it usually is at the end of a race – especially if it’s sunny out.”
