DSL Forum Honours 2wire Software Specialist For Pioneering Broadband Standards Work
29 August 2007 – John Blackford, a software architect with 2Wire, a provider of broadband service delivery platforms, has been presented with a Circle of Excellence award by the DSL Forum in acknowledgement of his outstanding work in supporting the development of standards protocols for broadband deployment worldwide.
John, a member of the DSL Forum’s BroadbandHome Technical Working Group, received the award at the Forum’s first quarterly meeting in China. A member of the Forum for three years, John has been particularly involved in the development of the Technical Report (TR-069) protocol, covering the remote management of CPE equipment in the Broadband Network.
Greg Bathrick, chairman of the BroadbandHome Working Group, says: “John is always highly productive, very dedicated and yet very modest in what he does. His quiet confidence commands respect and he has been instrumental in driving forward the TR-069 protocol. He is very deserving of this award.”
John comments, “With only four Circle of Excellence awards presented each year, it is a great distinction to receive one. I am honoured to receive this recognition from my peers, and grateful for the opportunity to work side by side with so many talented colleagues at the DSL Forum.”
The Circle of Excellence Award is given to those individuals who have shown exceptional skill or have provided a significant contribution to the DSL Forum’s work and future. The award, which is nomination driven, has been presented at the Forum’s quarterly meetings since 2000. Representatives from around the world have been recognized for their leadership in the development of standards, working texts and technical reports; their contribution to the strategic development of the Forum; and their commitment to the committees that ensure the Forum’s continued success.
