Chicago Native Anna Fong Wins Fashionista Title
Fong Scores Opportunity to Become Celebrity Designer and a Fashion Spread in No. 1 Hispanic Magazine People en Español
AOL® Latino, the award-winning bilingual portal for U.S. Hispanics, announces Chicago native Anna Fong as the winner of Fashionista, the online reality design contest sponsored by Mercury Milan. The show, which debuted in early June, featured several fashion contenders competing to be the next top Latino designer. As part of the grand prize, Fong will design a gown for actress/model and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres to be worn at Eduardo Lucero’s fashion show during this year’s Fashion Week in Los Angeles. Fong will also receive a spread in the fashion pages of People en Español, the country’s leading Hispanic magazine.
A Chicago native of Guatemalan and Chinese dissent, Anna Fong graduated Columbia College Chicago in 2001 and moved to New York City to work in the fashion industry and hone her design skills. Fong has since returned to Chicago and later this year plans to launch her clothing line for Latinas, which will accentuate a Hispanic woman’s natural curves.
