Wavecom Software Teams Attain CMMI level 2
Implementing Software Industry “Best Practices” is Key in Maintaining Future Software Leadership in the M2M Communications Space
Wavecom S.A. (Paris:AVM) (NASDAQ:WVCM) (ISIN:FR0000073066) announced today that its development teams have been evaluated CMMI level 2 (Capability Maturity Model Integration) by an independent appraiser for software development processes.
To answer the increasing quality requirements for embedded software, leading companies establish structured methodologies to meet customer expectations. By having a better software product definition, with timely development and reduction of bugs, they can realize cost declines, improved scheduling, and more reliable products. In recognition of this fact and in keeping with Wavecom’s stated quality policy, to maintain a culture of continuous improvement, Wavecom recently commissioned an independent appraisal firm to evaluate its software teams.
“We initially undertook the CMMI evaluation process in response to requests from some of our customers in industries, like automotive, where employing best practices in software development is imperative,“ commented Dominique Cyne, Wavecom Group V.P. of Research and Development. He continued, “Thanks to the CMMI level 2 implementation, we have significantly improved our overall efficiency.”
Companies that have obtained CMMI Level 2 have successfully demonstrated to the independent appraiser that software projects are planned and executed according to an established policy. CMMI serves as a measurement of a company’s implementation of software industry “best practices”. Wavecom is pursuing its plan to achieve CMMI level 3.
