• Under 10s enjoy a Web 2.0 experience

London, September 5, 2007: Unisex kid’s magazine ANORAK will expand its online presence this month with the launch of an interactive website designed by Capsule01.

The launch coincides with the first birthday of the unique children’s magazine and will further promote its philosophy of encouraging children to make their own decisions and give them a voice. The new look site will include games, reader reviews, competitions and a serialized online story.

Cathy Olmedillas, owner, Oksar, the independent publisher behind ANORAK said, “The new website is a birthday present to Anorak and a thank you to our readers – a place where the can get the full fun ANORAK experience. The interactivity on the site gives us an opportunity to entertain and engage our young audience between editions of the print magazine and adds a further value to the ANORAK proposition.”

Since ANORAK’s launch the magazine has attracted over 3,000 unique users a month to its existing site.

Paul Lindsell, creative director, Capsule01, said, “Today’s children are a sophisticated audience. We wanted to make sure we addressed their developed use of technology without compromising the innocence, excitement and humour of the ANORAK brand. Essentially we are using Web 2.0 technologies wrapped in the colourful, familiar packaging of a brand both parents and children love and trust. We hope the site will stimulate interaction and provoke learning as much as the magazine has over the last year.”

ANORAK is published four times a year has a unique format consisting of brand new stories written and illustrated by modern authors and designed to appeal to both boys and girls aged between 5 and 10 years.

About ANORAK:

Anorak, published 4 times a year by independent company Oksar Ltd, is a new unisex magazine for kids designed to appeal to both boys and girls. Anorak has a unique format consisting of brand new stories written and illustrated by modern authors, fun fashion and style pages and a ‘good stuff’ guide which covers new products for kids. It covers all aspects of a child’s world from fashion to stories, culture to science and sport to food.

Encouraging children’s contributions and input, Anorak bridges the gap between a children’s book and character magazine to create a unique new publication. At times, it’s their imaginary friend, at others it’s their mentor.

Anorak’s main philosophy is to encourage children to make their own decisions and is here to amplify their voices. It has at the core of its offering a passion for words and images that challenge and stimulate.

Anorak is available from Borders nationwide, a host of independent art galleries around the UK and worldwide.
