“Little Snitch”, the security tool of the Objective Development Software GmbH ranks among the “10 best selling Mac programs” on MacUpdate, one of the world-wide leading download platforms for the Mac. About 15,000 licences of the Mac application have been sold within a couple of days during a summer promotion. This success was the motivation for the Objective Development Software GmbH to offer “Little Snitch” for three days on their website for a bestseller price of USD 14.95 instead of USD 24.95. The promotion starts on Sept. 12, (6:00 UTC) and expires on Sept. 15, (6:00 UTC). Licences acquired under this promotion include a free upgrade to the complete new version 2.0 of “Little Snitch” which will be launched in October. This version will also be compatible with “Leopard”, the new Apple Operating System Mac OS X 10.5.

“Little Snitch” avoids undesirable outgoing data transfers
“Little Snitch” is a reasonable extension of the Mac OS X internal security system. The simple tool informs the user reliably if a program tries to establish a network connection. The user can then allow or deny the connection or add a permanent rule for similar future connections. Uncontrolled transmission of information - i.e. to the producer of a program - is being avoided that way. “Little Snitch” runs inconspicuous in the background and can also expose network acitivities of trojans and viruses.
