Diebold’s Deposit Automation To Be Showcased At Gitex 2007

Diebold to demonstrate how deposit automation can help transform the branch

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – At this year’s Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE:DBD) will showcase its cutting-edge self-service technology, which enables financial institutions to transform their branches for improved customer satisfaction and efficiency.

Designed to replicate the latest automated branch design, the Diebold booth (B1-1, Hall 1) exhibits the latest innovation and technology with particular emphasis on deposit automation.

Demonstrations on a wide range of terminals will illustrate how functionality enables customers to deposit mixed currency notes and multiple cheques without any intervention on the part of the branch staff. Following an authentication process, the system can instantly credit the customer’s account and consequently, frees up branch staff to focus on value added customer-facing tasks.

Other deposit solutions include:

• Opteva 328, Diebold’s latest bulk cash deposit device can be configured to accept, dispense or recycle deposited notes making them instantly available for withdrawal. The 328 offers a compact footprint, versatile terminal that improves cash utilisation by reducing the cash handling operation (including cash-in transit costs where appropriate) and saving bank staff the time-consuming process of cash replenishment.

• Opteva 324, a bulk note acceptor and recycling module unit designed to work alongside the Opteva 510/520 lobby cash dispensers. This modular solution can be installed either with a new terminal or as an upgrade to any existing terminals. Versatile, it can also be configured or upgraded to include the additional functions of cheque deposit or Statement Printing. With the Opteva family, banks have the freedom to deploy new functionality in a constantly evolving business environment whilst protecting their investment in technology.

• Opteva 760, a through-the-wall, full-function terminal. Configured for full deposit automation, the solution demonstrates multi-currency bulk note acceptance and intelligent cheque deposits.

“GITEX is an important show for Diebold – the Middle East is a strategic market for us. We are excited to be showcasing technologies designed to help financial institutions transform the branch. Through innovations such as deposit automation, we are committed to helping banks at all stages of branch development maximise customer satisfaction and profitability,” said James Chen, senior vice president, Diebold Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific.

In addition to its deposit automation technology, Diebold will also demonstrate how the Diebold Professional/Managed Services team can improve ATM profitability and uptime through a range of remote system management solutions offered in Diebold’s Agilis ATM Office Suite of products. These are:

• Campaign Office – allows banks to remotely manage ATM screens and media distribution, maximising new branding opportunities and generate new revenue streams through ATM advertisements.
• Remote Office – improves ATM fleet uptime, enhancing events and errors management procedures with automatic call dispatching and escalation features.
• Journal Office – provides the ability to remotely capture, analyse and manage transaction history.

Other solutions on show include:

• Opteva 220 express cash dispenser for use by a traditional branch teller to automate fast, secure cash dispensing from within the branch counter position.
• Opteva 121 non-cash terminal offers a wide range of cashless transactions such as account transfer, bill payment and statement printing. Built on the Opteva family hardware and software platform, the Opteva 121 provides a consistent user experience whilst enabling a robust and secure Web banking application in a self-service environment.
• Diebold Direct, supplies service, highlighting the numerous complementary products and servicing supplies for Diebold and other vendors’ ATMs.

Diebold’s latest innovations will be demonstrated at the stand daily. Diebold’s stand B1-1 can be found in Hall 1.
