The panel discussion entitled “Utility and Grid Computing: Products, Enabling Technologies, or Distractions,” will take place Tuesday, September 18 at 3:30-4:15 p.m. at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. John Abbott, Chief Analyst & Research Director, Systems, at The 451 Group covering the systems and storage industries will moderate the panel. Joining Lynn on the panel will be Michael Platner, CEO, Layered Technologies, and Brian Hurley, CEO, Liquid Computing.

Attendees will learn about emerging technologies, strategies and opportunities relevant to these activities, including ‘gridonomics,’ virtualization, SOA, security and open source, as well as social, cultural and organizational issues. The panel will examine grid computing offerings and their impact on the hosting market. As grids mature, they are being used to support a range of strategic activities. The sweet spot is utilities – enterprise and public.

Barry has also served as Chairman and CEO of PRIVACI, a company providing anonymous purchasing and personalized services for consumers on the Internet, and Director of publicly traded software company, Merant PLC, prior to its acquisition by Serena. Barry is currently on the Boards of Directors of Alacritech, Layer 7 Technologies and Attune Systems.
