Hyundai Motor India rolls out the fastest 1,500,000th car

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), India’s largest car exporter and second largest car manufacturer, achieved yet another commendable landmark by rolling out the fastest 1,500,000th car, in the month of September 2007, nine years since Hyundai started production in India.

Hyundai has achieved many significant milestones during its nine year journey in the country. Hyundai Motor India rolled out its first car in September 1998, and in less than two years time it achieved a milestone by rolling out 100,000th car in the month of April 2000. Thereafter in the month of December 2003, Hyundai rolled out its 500,000th car becoming the first company to touch the 500,000 unit mark in record time. In the month of March 2006, a little over seven years in its young journey, Hyundai rolled out the fastest 1,000,000thcar thus contributing significantly to the growth of the Indian automobile industry. With the rolling out of the 1,500,000th car Hyundai has achieved this feat faster and in the shortest time in the Indian automotive industry.

The above achievements called for expansion of the dealership network of Hyundai Motor India. In the beginning of 2007 there were 167 dealerships; Hyundai Motor India now plans to take the number to around 250 operational dealers spread across the country by the end of 2007. The metros will see multiple dealerships with some of the existing dealers opening their second or third showrooms.
