Mallik Moturi appointed Managing Director of Xilinx India
MUMBAI, India, September 18, 2007 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the world’s leading supplier of programmable logic solutions, today announced the appointment of Mallik Moturi as managing director, Xilinx India. Moturi will be responsible for overseeing all of Xilinx operations in India including the centre in Hyderabad. Moturi will also lead the company’s efforts in developing India into a global R&D hub for Xilinx, also announced today.
Moturi has over fifteen years experience in the semiconductor and systems industry with a strong track record in developing and managing global teams. His initial focus will be on formulating and driving a customer-based R&D strategy, and further strengthening relationships with the growing number of customers in India and Asia Pacific. Moturi will also spearhead the integration of the Xilinx India team with the company’s worldwide R&D operations.

Moturi brings with him expertise in VLSI and systems gained at world-class companies such as Bell Labs, AT&T, Lucent, Hughes and Conexant. Moturi has worked in diverse areas such as digital signal processing, multi-processor architecture, wireless base station, set-top box, VSAT, networking, disk drive SoCs, and video processing. He has developed technology solutions that are fully aligned and integrated with customer and market needs. These skills will be leveraged by Xilinx to improve customer focus and total systems approach.

The Xilinx India facility currently employs close to one hundred high-end design engineers. Xilinx manages and operates the centre which is responsible for the full product development lifecycle of Intellectual Property (IP) cores in high-growth areas of automotive electronics, embedded processing and high-speed serial I/O connectivity. IP cores are pre-engineered, functional modules that Xilinx customers use to reduce the development time of programmable system designs. Xilinx has also initiated a software center and systems & applications center in Hyderabad. The software centre will focus on FPGA tools and algorithm developments, and the system & applications centre will focus on solutions and system-level applications.
Xilinx India has established a strong track record delivering over sixty locally-designed IP cores to date, of which more than half are based on the company’s cutting-edge 65nm process technology. Xilinx opened its own facility in Hyderabad in October 2006, and entered the next phase of growth in India, building up a local workforce and increasing engagement with leading local design houses and universities.
Xilinx India also opened its customer sales and support center in Hyderabad to support customers around the world. The products and support services are available for use by the company’s worldwide customer base of over 7,500 companies and over 200,000 design engineers, generating 50,000 design starts annually.
