24-7 Entertainment to Provide EMI Music’s Higher Quality DRM-Free Catalogue to its International Network of MP3 Digital Stores

24-7 Entertainment, Europe’s leading B2B digital music provider announced today that it has made EMI Music’s higher quality DRM-free catalogue available to its extensive network of digital store partners. The first retailer in 24-7’s network to release EMI’s DRM-free catalogue was Weltbild, one of Germany’s largest online media retailers, followed by online music giant, CDON, in the Nordic region. Other partners are scheduled to follow shortly.

The EMI catalogue is available in the MP3 format at 320 Kbit/s, the highest quality available on the market. Barney Wragg, Global Head of Digital, EMI Music, said: “EMI wants to give music fans the best possible digital music experience. With this new agreement with 24-7, even more consumers will be able to purchase our higher quality DRM-free downloads and play them on any music player.”

“24-7 has provided its independent catalogue in DRM-free MP3 format for quite some time, but we are thrilled to now offer EMI content in this superior quality,” said Frank Taubert, CEO of 24-7 Entertainment. “We now have over 1.2 million tracks of DRM-free music. This format has proven to be a much more user friendly experience and we hope that other major labels will follow suit with this ground-breaking initiative.”
