Australian Food TV Launches on Joost
Apart from throwing another shrimp on the barbie, ever wondered what they eat Down Under?
Now you can experience the unique and delicious tastes of authentic Australian food, brought to you by the celebrity Aussie Chefs Vic Cherikoff and Benjamin Christie (http://www.aussiechefs.com), on Joost, the world’s first broadcast-quality Internet TV service.
Together, they produced and co-hosted the first authentic Australian cooking series now available on Joost at http://www.AustralianFoodTV.com. In their series of cooking shows the Aussie Chefs visit restaurants around Australia and use the chefs’ dishes as inspiration, together with authentic Australian ingredients, to create classic Australian food in their studio kitchen.
Cherikoff (http://www.cherikoff.net) has spent much of his life exploring the Australian Outback and has selected rare ingredients for development as part of an environmentally and ecologically sustainable and culturally appropriate Australian food industry. Cherikoff states, “Some of the ingredients we use are close to medicines in that they are very high in antioxidants, or have anti-diabetic or anti-aging qualities. I believe they are the reason traditional Australian Aborigines were able to survive and prosper in one of the most inhospitable countries on the planet.”
Christie is a gourmand who combines conventional foods and classic techniques, made distinctively Australian with the flavors of Australian indigenous ingredients. His popular and highly rated website, http://www.benjaminchristie.com, is widely regarded as an important contribution to the Australian food industry. “We are delighted to have joined the Joost platform and look forward to introducing a larger audience to the really unique ingredients we use here and the many delicious ways that they can be used to make great food,” said Christie.
Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, executive VP of content strategy and acquisition for Joost, said, “Joost offers people everywhere access to diverse programming from around the world. The Australian Food TV Channel is a perfect example of how people with shared interests can connect with programming from different cultures.” Founded by Janus Friis and Niklas Zennström, Joost combines the best of TV and the Internet by offering viewers a full-screen audiovisual experience enhanced with the choice, control and flexibility of Web 2.0. Joost is the first online, global TV distribution platform, bringing together advertisers, content owners and viewers in an interactive, community-driven environment.
