Mobile workforce prompts SMS surge

With Growing investment in technology to enable remote working and flexible working, SMS messaging has emerged as one of the most popular options for many businesses.

A report by analysts at Forrester Research shows that European firms now spend 32 per cent of their telecoms and networking budgets on mobility.SMS messages, along with mobile email and personal information management are among the most successful mobile applications.

In fact, business mobility has become so important that a third of businesses surveyed stated that setting a mobile and wireless strategy is a priority; for another 16 per cent it’s critical priority. Companies investing in mobility realise the benefits it can offer employees in terms of convenience and boosted morale, as well as business benefits such as greater productivity and cost savings.
Research also shows that 48 per cent of companies say they’ll increase their spending on mobility this year, and for mobile data this figure is even higher, with 58 per cent of companies planning to spend more.

Mobility projects often raise cost and reliability issues, however, PageOne MD Chris Jones said many companies are pleasantly surprised.
“The feedback from our clients is very encouraging. Even those who were cautious about dipping a toe in the water now say they haven’t looked back since adopting our SMS messaging application, Connect. In terms of reliability, our network and back-up systems are the envy of our peers, and we’re highly competitive on cost too.”
