Mailing prompted by new data center transition requirement and intended to help providers meet deadline
VisionShare Inc, a leading provider of secure, low-cost, reliable data communications services for the healthcare industry, today announced it plans a mailing of its Secure Exchange Software™ solution to a comprehensive list of Part A providers in the state of New York. The mailing is in response to an announcement on September 21, 2007 by National Government Services (Empire Medicare Services) that states Part A providers in New York will be required to have SSL-secured access to the new Companion Data Services Enterprise Data Center in place by October 29, 2007. The purpose of the mailing, scheduled for October 3, 2007, is to assist Part A providers in meeting the requisite October deadline.
SSL, or Secured Sockets Layer, is a security protocol developed for transmitting private documents via the Internet. VisionShare Secure Exchange Software automatically encrypts all data prior to transmission and meets this requirement; therefore, existing VisionShare clients are not impacted by this event.
“Once we saw the short window of time for this new requirement we knew we had to be proactive in helping providers with an easy solution. The quickest way to get them the connectivity they need is to send our software to everyone in a mass mailing. Once it’s in their hands, it’s easy. Should the provider decide to install our solution, our staff can process their order and have them up and running very quickly,” said John Feikema, president and CEO of VisionShare. Feikema continued, “We have extensive experience in providing seamless connectivity migrations; for example, we recently installed over 200 hospitals in Pennsylvania during its transition. With this new SSL requirement, it’s a good time for New York providers to consider a new connectivity option that offers more benefits, is likely less expensive and will support their needs well into the future.”
Patent pending VisionShare Secure Exchange Software enables secure, direct connectivity over the Internet for sending claims, receiving remittance advice, verifying patient eligibility, enabling direct data entry (DDE) to the common working file and exchanging other health plan information between the provider and Medicare and other payers. Secure Exchange Software is CORE certified and compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and other standards for safe and secure electronic transfer of patient information. VisionShare solutions reduce the cost, increase the speed, and ensure the security of electronic-data connections for healthcare providers, healthcare payers, and government agencies.
The mailing to Part A providers in New York includes the Desktop version of VisionShare Secure Exchange software. An Enterprise server license is also available for larger organizations.
