So What’s the Big Announcement from Ogden?
Ø A New Partnership and a New Product – In partnership with Moment Marketing, a developer and administrator of online shopping solutions, Ogden seeks to remain at green’s cutting edge by creating a new platform to provide green opportunities to everyday consumers.
Ø Harnessing the Power of the Web – Enabling online shoppers to restore the environment while doing what they do regularly already.
How It Came To Be
Ø An Auspicious Beginning – The new partnership and product initiated when founders Bryan Welch and Miki Momen met during the Fall 2005 The Social Ventures Network conference – a conference for business owners, social entrepreneurs and civic leaders to explore ways to create a more just and sustainable economy.
Ø A Year of Development – After less than a year of design, development and execution, the new product is ready to go live on the web.
Ø The Launch Date – Stay tuned, exciting things will be happening the week of 10/22.
Seizing the Opportunity
Ø E-Commerce is Hot, Hot, Hot – Estimates show E-commerce transactions are on the rise and will continue that way.
o E-commerce transactions are expected to reach $259 billion in 2007
o These transactions could exceed $300 billion by 2010 and add up to over a trillion dollars in the last half of the decade alone
o In 2007, online sales are expected to be nearly 10% of total retail sales, compared to just 3% in 2001
Seizing the Opportunity (Continued)
Ø Aggregators Get Most of the Business – Research also shows that nearly two thirds (59%) of online shoppers start at aggregator sites rather than going directly to a merchant’s site and taking the first price offered.
o The new site includes over 15 million products and services provided by more than 1000 retailers
o Retailers include Home Depot, Toys ‘R’ Us, Amazon, Jos. A Bank, PetSmart, Sharper Image, Dell, Sur La Table and many, many more
Ø Existing Shoppers Drive Growth – As online shopping continues to mature, increased spending levels are expected to be driven by existing online buyers, not by new buyers coming online
Ø Environmentally-Concerned Shoppers Move Online – Environmentally conscious shoppers are finding that shopping online can reduce their consumption of gasoline and associated greenhouse emissions
