How does it work?

It’s easy (and extremely fun) to build an online SMS collection on Vakow!. One can use the web interface or post the SMSes from mobile phone. Vakow! has a non-premium 10 digit number (+91 99015 54321) hence it costs only as per user’s SMS plan to send an SMS to Vakow!. Once an SMS Forward is posted, other community members rate it up or down and if it collects a minimum score, it it forwarded to users’ subscribers.

And while that is going on, community members can also tag the SMS, comment on it and forward it to their friends. Rating allows high quality SMS Forwards to rise to the top and tagging enables them to be organized in different categories; and thus makes it easy for users to find and share interesting SMSes.

About Vakow!

Vakow! is small-but-raring-to-go startup founded by Rahul Gupta (RG) and Amit Upadhyay (amitu). They graduated from IIT Bombay in 2003 – started a smart ‘landline’ phone company that didn’t take off, worked at Webaroo for 2 years as Sr. Product Managers and Sr. Software Engineer, learnt many things and started Vakow! in Feburary, 07.
