Industrial Focus at Event to Include Nine Demos, 18 Hours of Technical Sessions, Four News Announcements and a Roundtable
Freescale Technology Forum-Munich
The Freescale Technology Forum-Munich kicks off tomorrow in a region at the forefront of the European industrial landscape. Highlights include four industrial announcements on PowerQUICC processors, RF power transistors, high-side analog switches and power amplifiers. Nine technology demonstrations will illustrate cutting-edge industrial solutions, such as robotic control, home automation and communications based on ColdFire microcontrollers and PowerQUICC microprocessors. The company also will host a panel session featuring customers, universities and experts on the industrial market.
“Industrial customers are concerned about energy management, improved productivity and increased connectivity,” said Bruno Baylac, director of consumer and industrial marketing for Freescale’s Transportation and Standard Products Group in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “By providing reliable, high quality, energy-efficient semiconductor products and technologies, Freescale is helping drive innovation in this market.”
Advancing the next industrial revolution
The industrial market is growing rapidly, expanding from $16.8 billion (USD) in 2005 to an expected $25.9 billion in 2011, according to market research firm Semicast. Freescale delivers system-level solutions for the environmental, longevity and energy-efficiency requirements of connected industrial applications. With four decades of market experience, Freescale products are used widely in applications such as motor control, factory automation, building security, HVAC, medical, robotics, test and measurement, aerospace and defense.
Freescale is uniquely positioned to provide end-to-end solutions leveraging a deep portfolio of 8-bit and ColdFire microcontrollers, PowerQUICC processors, i.MX application processors, ZigBee-compliant RF solutions, RF power transistors, sensors, analog and power management ICs, and digital signal controllers.
Continuous innovation
This year Freescale has launched a wide range of semiconductor products and platform solutions for the industrial market:
An embedded VoIP reference platform, evaluation and development kit based on the ColdFire MCF53281 MCU family
A communications platform based on Power Architecture technology for the creation of intelligent equipment capable of running demanding industrial networking protocols and enabling highly accurate communications
A host processor for imaging applications – a highly integrated device based on Power Architecture technology that helps robots see and navigate in 3D space, enables touch screen kiosks to recognize voices and facial features, and allows cockpit controls to display images with outstanding resolution
A multi-core system-on-chip processor – built on Power Architecture technology, Freescale’s highly integrated MPC5121e device for telematics also serves industrial and commercial applications that require sophisticated graphics, multimedia and real-time audio processing
22 highly integrated embedded controllers added to the company’s extensive 32-bit ColdFire portfolio, optimized for consumer and industrial applications
In addition, Freescale has expanded its Web site resources for embedded system designers with an increased focus on industrial applications, complete with application summary pages. Industrial-related technical sessions are also a cornerstone of the company’s global Freescale Technology Forum events.
