There are currently over 80 million discarded mobile phones lying around in the UK alone with a value of £1.6 Billion, the equivalent to three new NHS hospital developments, one Royal Navy Aircraft carrier or 800 million pints of beer…

One company is using their initiative and offering a chance for the public to trade their old mobile phones for cash live at the UK’s biggest gadget show in London.

Specialists from envirofone.com will be on hand at the Stuff Show, 2-4th November at the Novotel, Hammersmith, to check and test all used handsets before assessing their value and exchanging the phone for a cheque for anything from £1 to £150.

Visitors trading ten or more handsets for recycling will even have their entry fee refunded by envirofone on top of receiving the total worth of their phones.

All the phones collected at the show will be refurbished ready for resale and reuse in growing economies around the world where mobile communications devices are highly sought after.*

Go Green with your mobile phone:

1. Only charge your phone for as long as required

2. Unplug your charger after use – it can still be using power

3. Go for a green mobile phone contract that carbon offsets the life of your mobile

4. Ensure that you recycle your old mobile as quickly as possible after you get your new one – Millions of people want a recycled mobile

5. Use a solar charger if possible

6. Turn off your phone if it is not in use – after all you’re not talking all the time

7. Keep your phone in a cover – if you don’t damage it you may not want a new one so quickly

8. Tell your friends about going green with your mobile – the more people you tell the better it is for the environment

9. NEVER throw an old mobile in the bin – even if your phone is broken beyond repair send it in for recycling as they can be broken down and materials used for other things apart from landfill

Tickets to the show can be purchased by visiting wwwstuffshow.co.uk and cost £13 or £15 on the door.

*Those phones which can’t be reused are recycled in accordance to ISO 14001 and WEE Directive standards.
