RadioFrame Networks, the leader in innovative solutions for iDEN operators worldwide, today announced a new product in the iDEN basestation family. The Outdoor Pole Mount (OPM) microcell provides iDEN operators with a small, yet fully functional basestation solution that can now be mounted on power, telephone and other pre-existing poles typical of municipal and rural situations.
The OPM basestation is designed to meet the needs of iDEN operators who are building coverage and capacity in their systems while maintaining low cost deployments and operations. This basestation integrates fully with existing iDEN solutions by augmenting and enhancing the operators’ toolkit and allowing faster and easier deployments. Using RadioFrame’s OPM will improve a carrier’s network speed to market while saving them as much as 80 percent of the network building expense.
“The OPM allows the operator to deploy their network without the need to build hard-to-zone and expensive shelters for their basestations,” said Jeff Brown, President and CEO. “We built this product in response to our customers’ desires to have flexibility in their network deployments and to focus on reduction of both capital and operating expense in the network.”
“Physically, the OPM is a compact and complete solution which can be configured in both omni and sectorized solutions. It draws on many years of development in our other iDEN basestations and was brought to market in record time because of the inherent flexibility built into RadioFrame’s basestation design,” continued Brown.
The product is based on the same modular components that are used in other RadioFrame iDEN, GSM, WCDMA and 4G products. The OPM adds to the current RadioFrame portfolio of low, medium and high power basestations for iDEN, and the company’s Pico and Femtocell offerings in the other technologies.
“The addition of this flexible network solution for iDEN operators gives further proof that small, modular radio delivery platforms are extremely important for the growth of iDEN on an international basis,” said Chuck Bedrosian, Director of Product Management. “The need to move the signal closer to the customer to deliver high quality voice and data is driving the need for flexibility in size, power and backhaul solutions.”
