ZyXEL Communications, a leading provider of secure broadband networking, Internet connectivity and routing products, today announced an extension to its ADSL product line with the addition of bonded ADSL2+ CPE router and support for bonded ADSL2+ to ADSL2+ line cards for MSANs (IES6000, IES5000 and IES5005) and standalone ADSL2+ DSLAMs (IES1248 Series).

Utilizing ADSL2+ loop bonding, a service provider can combine two existing copper phone lines into a single connection that delivers high-bandwidth access. Carriers and service providers gain the advantage of a quick, low-cost way to reach more subscribers with advanced broadband services such as VoIP, IP television (IPTV), and triple-play bundles of voice, data, and video.

ZyXEL’s bonded ADSL2+ CPE offering, the P663H-51 modem router will support speeds of up to 48Mbps downstream/4Mbps upstream and include four 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports. Other capabilities include support for TR069 protocol for remote management, SPI firewall and DOS protection for security and advanced QoS and multicasting features for triple play.

“We would like to offer service providers all the options for broadband access, including ADSL2+, bonded ADSL2+, VDSL2, G.SHDSL and PON so they can choose the solution that best meets their needs,” said Munira Brooks, senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development for ZyXEL. “With bonded ADSL2+ support, now carriers with original ADSL2/2+ technology will be able to offer high bandwidth services to their subscribers without additional investment,” Brooks added.

Benefits of Bonded ADSL2+

Bonded ADSL2+ technology provides high-speed connections for rich media services to customers otherwise out of reach because of their distance from the central office or DLC (digital loop carrier). Even multiple streams of high-definition television can be supported using bonded ADSL2+. Carriers can use bonded ADSL2+ in rural areas where copper is much more prevalent and fiber has not been fully deployed; bonded ADSL2+ technology can help maximize the bandwidth and performance opportunities of the ‘last mile’ with a much more cost-effective, easy to deploy solution.

ZyXEL COE/DLSAM Features

The RUS-approved ZyXEL multi-service access node (MSAN) and IP/DSLAM offers a broad range of options for every Fiber to the Neighborhood/Curb (FTTx) deployment and scale. Available in different configurations, ZyXEL’s IES6000, IES500 and IES5005 products allow for versatile line card support for ADSL2/2+, VDSL2, G.SHDSL and POTS/VoIP services.

Additionally, ZyXEL’s MSAPs support non-blocking Gigabit Ethernet backplane, GE ports for uplink including SFP fiber interfaces, advanced QoS and multicasting features for triple play services and failover-enabled management features. The ZyXEL product line also includes hardened 48-Port ASLA2+DSLAM in the form of the IES1248 and 16-Port VDSL2 switch, the IES-1616, with an integrated POTS splitter that is ideal for FTTC and FTTB deployments.
