Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc. Awards IBM Seven-Year Contract

Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc. (Horizon), New Jersey’s largest health insurer, awarded IBM a seven-year contract for on demand outsourcing, the companies announced today. The new contract continues the working relationship between the companies. IBM will assist Horizon BCBSNJ in enhancing its customer relationship management applications and integrate its provider network applications.

“Horizon is focused on using technology to increase efficiency, save money, and better serve our customers and our health care providers,” said Chuck Emery, senior vice president and Chief Information Officer at Horizon. “For the past 12 years, IBM has helped us improve our systems and meet our goal of better service to our customers. We look forward to our continued working relationship.”

Under the terms of the contract, IBM will, among other things, develop and maintain additional claims processing and other administrative software applications. IBM will also manage Horizon’s mainframe infrastructure and communications network.
