Intel Corporation has been honored with the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) 2007 Corporate Award “in recognition of its sustained contributions, leadership, and advancement of the IEEE-SA Corporate Program.”

Intel has a long history of contributing to the development of IEEE standards, from wired and wireless networking to floating point arithmetic to design automation.

“This award honors Intel for its leadership and dedication in partnering with us to create standards for computing and communications devices and systems,” says Judy Gorman, Managing Director of IEEE-SA. “Industry has embraced many of these standards, and they have helped to change the way that people and businesses work and communicate around the globe. Intel’s consistent support of, and leadership within, the IEEE-SA Corporate Program has helped to strengthen an already world-class standards development process and allowed us to make great strides toward our strategic goals.”

“Intel has supported standards development at the IEEE for several decades, and we are pleased to be involved with the IEEE-SA Corporate Program,” says Philip Wennblom, Intel Director of International Standards and Regulations, who accepted the award. “The IEEE-SA Corporate Program is an important addition to the individual-based standards development process at the IEEE; it’s especially valuable as the IEEE-SA continues to grow as a globally recognized standards developing organization. We very much appreciate this recognition.”

The IEEE-SA Corporate Award is presented annually to an IEEE-SA member organization for providing outstanding leadership and contributions to the IEEE-SA. Past recipients include Motorola, Inc.; Hewlett-Packard Company; Sony Electronics, Inc.; Lucent Technologies - Bell Labs; and IBM Corporation.
