Leading Provider of Solutions That Manage Privileged Access Demonstrates Positive Momentum in First Half of 2007 With a 28 Percent Increase in Sales
Symark Software, the leading provider of information security solutions for managing privileged account access, today announced a 28 percent increase in sales during the first half of 2007 in comparison to the same period in 2006. Third quarter sales of Symark’s PowerKeeper privileged password management solution increased dramatically, up 244 percent from the third quarter of 2006. This significant revenue growth was driven by three new product releases in 2007, including PowerKeeper 2.0, and a continuously expanding portfolio of global enterprise clients as more and more organizations rely on Symark’s best-of-breed identity and access management solutions to secure access to proprietary systems and information.
“Symark’s substantial growth in 2007 illustrates the increasing demand for solutions that manage privileged access in order to secure sensitive data and comply with SOX, PCI DSS and other regulations,” said Robert H. Farber, chief operating officer at Symark Software. “Underestimating the need to secure the root account and administrator passwords — the virtual ‘keys to the kingdom’ — can lead to devastating security breaches and lofty penalties for non-compliance. By offering comprehensive solutions for delegating administrative privileges, Symark is able to help both new and existing customers implement best-practices security infrastructures that meet security and compliance demands. We look forward to continued success in 2008, driven especially by PCI DSS compliance deadlines and the impending availability of our new PowerADvantage product.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering best-of-breed solutions for managing privileged account access across heterogeneous IT environments, Symark released new versions of its three industry-leading products in 2007. The company also announced PowerADvantage, a brand new integrated authentication and configuration solution that extends Active Directory’s centralized authentication, authorization, account access, policy enforcement and infrastructure management functionality to UNIX and Linux systems (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_09_17_Symark_Introduces _PowerADvantage.html).
Symark also released PowerKeeper 2.0, the industry’s most advanced privileged password management solution for the secure creation, control, storage and retrieval of privileged administrative account passwords. Version 2.0 includes support for single-factor authentication against Active Directory or LDAP, FIPS-140 validated encryption technology and additional two-factor authentication support, as well as a new performance monitor that ensures all the processes and services needed by PowerKeeper are running properly (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_07_16_Symark_Announces _PowerKeeper_2.0.html).
Also in 2007, Symark announced PowerBroker 5.0, the industry’s most comprehensive solution for authorization and access control. Version 5.0 includes entitlement reporting capabilities that provide a detailed list of the commands that IT administrators and other users can run, on what systems and when. PowerBroker 5.0 also incorporates an access control list feature that simplifies the designation of access rights (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_05_07_Symark_Announces _PowerBroker_5.0.html).
Other highlights from 2007 include:
Selection of PowerBroker 5.0 as a “Hot Pick” in the October 2007 issue of Information Security magazine. PowerBroker 5.0 received an “A” grade in every category of the review, as well as an “A+” for its reporting capabilities (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_10_15_PowerBroker _Selected_As_Hot_Pick.html).
Inclusion on Software Magazine’s Software 500 for the sixth consecutive year. Symark ranks 331 — 15 places ahead of its 2006 ranking — with a 2005-06 revenue increase of 28.5 percent (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_10_29_Symark_In _Software_500_Sixth_Year.html).
Expansion of international remarketers channel partner network to meet increasing global demand for Symark’s solutions. Symark added partners in Argentina, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and South Korea (http://www.symark.com/company/pr/2007/2007_10_03_Symark _Expands_Channel_Network.html).
