Milestone Underscores Demand Among Independent and Chain Restaurants for Simple, Cost-Effective Technology Solutions

The Magellan Network, provider of cost-effective Internet-based technology solutions for independent restaurants and small chain restaurants, today announced that 2,695 restaurants have signed up with Magellan Reservations. Magellan Reservations is an online reservations service that connects restaurants and diners through standard Internet technology they already use.

“This milestone shows that adoption rates for our service are increasingly dramatic among our target market of independent restaurants and small chains,” said Chris Poelma, COO of The Magellan Network. “We offer our customers the powerful and cost-effective tools and services they need to increase efficiency and profits — without asking them to buy new hardware or pay for high-priced consultants.”

“Magellan Reservations is by far the easiest reservation tool I’ve used and it’s easy for my staff to use as well,” said Nic Villarreal, owner of Taléo Mexican Grill in Irvine, CA. “I can choose how I want to receive reservations and whether the reservations come in over the phone or by email they include all the diner’s information so it’s easy for us to get a hold of them. Also, the system automatically collects email addresses so it’s been a lot easier to create email marketing campaigns.”

In June of 2007, 400 restaurants were signed up on Magellan Reservations. By September the number increased to 1,200 and then reached 2,400 in late November. With an exceptionally high retention rate and an expanding subscriber base, the company forecasts its network to total 3,000 restaurants by the end of 2007 and grow to thousands more by the end of 2008. To date, the company has and expects that number to increase dramatically during 2008.

Unlike some Internet-based services that use a passive system to sign up subscribers, Magellan Reservations works directly with restaurants to set up their accounts. Restaurant personnel must actively agree to and sign the company’s Terms & Conditions, either online or via fax, during the set up process. This requirement ensures that all restaurants on the service are actively accepting online reservations.

“Setting up our restaurant with Magellan’s customer service team was fast and easy,” said Adrienne Pappadopoulos, co-owner of Glory in Andover, MA. “Magellan Reservations offers obvious value for us: it improves our diner experience, increases our profits and is simple for our employees to use.”
