Alpha Software Expands Team with Two New Senior Developers

BURLINGTON, Mass.-December 20, 2007-Today Alpha Software welcomed Christian Knott and Matt Sheils as Senior Developers on the company’s development team. Sheils will be responsible for driving the future design and development of the Alpha Application Server, while Knott will be responsible for researching and developing technologies that advance the state of rapid application development.
“Both Christian and Matt have extensive industry experience, deep understanding of agile development methods, and commitment to application quality, making them both an ideal fit for Alpha Software,” says Richard Rabins, Co-Chairman of Alpha Software. “We’re thrilled they have joined us, and look forward to working with them as integral members of our development team.”
Before joining Alpha Software, Knott was Director of Development for Monster Worldwide in Maynard, Mass., where he led development of a new advertising system for the Monster Career Advertising Network. In his role as lead designer, Knott was responsible for designing and programming the system, and mentoring team members throughout the process.
Before that, Knott spent 13 years in software architecture and development managerial positions for companies throughout Massachusetts, including Kronos Inc., Aras Corporation, Last Daze LLC, and Customer Analytics Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in computer science from University College London.
Sheils served as Director of Research and Development for SPSS Inc., Cambridge, Mass., where he directed R&D site operations for Internet startup NetGenesis, which SPSS acquired. He transitioned NetGenesis to SPSS’s business model, using SPSS’s process and measurement disciplines. Sheils was also tapped by SPSS to champion global initiatives, aligning all R&D teams with the company’s OEM and program management planning.
Before SPSS, Sheils served in a number of software and staff engineer roles, including Entrepreneur, Software Executive, and Senior Director of Engineering for various software companies, including Equatio, Collego Corp., and Sybase Inc. He has experience in enterprise software product engineering, lifecycle development, process maturity, project management, technical partner relations, and strategic business planning.
