Soma Enterprise Ltd. (SEL) completes Prakasha Barrage Project in a record time

New Delhi, January 9, 2008: Soma Enterprise Ltd., one of India’s leading infrastructure developers, today announced the completion of erection of the Mild steel gates of Prakasha Barrage Project at Tal. Shahada, Dist. Nandurbar, Maharashtra, awarded to it by the TIDC (Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation), Government of Maharashtra. Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, Shri Ajit Pawar felicitated Soma with the prestigious Gold Award and Certificate of Excellence for its outstanding performance and completion of the project ahead of schedule.
The scope of work for the Rs.165 crore project included construction of barrage of total length of 1443 m, providing & erecting 27 Vertical Lift Type Mild Steel Gates of size 15m x 9m, having steel component of 5700 MT. The Reservoir Capacity is 2.24TMC and would provide irrigation to 8856 Ha of land.
The Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence was received by Mr. M. M. Prabhakar V. Prasad, Director, Soma Enterprise Limited, in the presence of Shri Manikrao Gavit, Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Govt. of India and Dr. Vijay Kumar Gavit, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Development, Government of Maharashtra at a function in Prakasha, attended by more than 5000 local people.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ankineedu Maganti, Director, Soma Enterprise Ltd, said, “We are happy to receive the prestigious Gold award from the Govt. of Maharashtra for our unremitting effort in providing the best resources for this Prakasha barrage project. Our expertise and vast experience in executing barrage projects has enabled us to achieve successful completion of the project much ahead of schedule.”

Soma is currently executing the Bhabhali & Digras barrage projects, Bhosa-Khind Tunnel and Pimpalgaon-Dhule road projects in Maharashtra.
