AMD And STMicroelectronics Collaborate To Help Deliver Enhanced Digital Entertainment Experiences

AMD (NYSE: AMD) and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) today announced their commitment to bring immersive, new digital entertainment experiences to televisions. The first step is a network-connected set-top box reference design based on ST’s new STB710x single chip solutions for set-top boxes. This combination is designed to deliver a world-class, high-definition (H.264, WM9), cable, satellite, terrestrial, or IP set-top box. When connected to a desktop or notebook PC via a home network, the TV experience can be transformed from traditional and “linear” to a new, interactive experience.

As part of AMD’s digital media vision also announced today, AMD LIVE! will help extend the power and flexibility of the PC. With ST’s new set-top box design, AMD and ST are working together to help enhance consumers’ digital entertainment experiences.
