Company Listed Third as a Top Vendor for the 2008 Leading End Users Storage Technology

NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of IT, network and identity management solutions, today announced that the company has been cited by Fortune 1000 companies as one of the technology providers having the most exciting storage products/services, according to TheInfoPro’s (TIP) “Most Exciting Storage Vendor” list. Inclusion in the list was driven by NEC’s emergence as a Top 5 “in-pilot” vendor for de-duplication technology deployments among enterprise buyers.

De-duplication is the leading storage technology in TIP’s Storage Technology Networking Heat Index®, which gauges the immediacy of user needs and planned spending for each technology. NEC’s position as a Top 5 “in-pilot” vendor of TIP’s current number one technology indicates that the company is in a strong position for continued growth.

“As the first unified grid storage platform for backup and archive data, TIP’s recent findings are tremendous validation that we are breaking into the consciousness of enterprise storage buyers,” said Karen Dutch, general manager, Advanced Storage Products Group, NEC Corporation of America. “Customer adoption has been phenomenal, demonstrating that HYDRAstor offers not only a great de-duplication ratio, but also provides a strategic new platform that uniquely provides better protection, scope, and performance.”

TIP’s “Most Exciting Storage Vendor” list is part of its Wave 10 Storage Study, which details technology adoption trends and timeframes, management techniques, and vendor performance data for the Storage industry. The list is compiled based on feedback from storage professionals regarding which of the storage vendors and products they consider to be the most exciting.

“NEC’s emergence in this report demonstrates the company is gaining ground as a leader in enterprise storage,” said Robert Stevenson, managing director, TheInfoPro Storage Research. “Storage pros who are considering NEC have indicated that the product has shown to be successful in tackling the complexity, manageability and environment issues created by exponential data growth.”

TIP syndicated Storage study is built on a database of in-depth interviews with IT decision makers within Fortune 1000 organizations and mid-market enterprises. Research is updated in six-month waves, providing timely and unmatched historical data. The recent Wave 10 Storage study was performed on an unprompted basis, in which enterprise buyers mentioned those companies they were piloting in consideration of a niche technology without any cues from the survey provider.
