SAMSUNG’S New Portable MP3 Player Takes Pictures Worth Smiling For
Las Vegas, NV – Samsung, an award-winning innovator in digital audio design, meets the consumer demand for image capture functionality head-on with a new MP3 player that combines portable audio with a full two MegaPixel digital camera. The compact YP-D1 Pocket DSC MP3 Player is a high-capacity flash device that has it all: superior digital audio playback, a built-in digital camera, MPEG4 playback, and photo and text viewing capabilities on a color screen. The YP-D1 will be on display during CES 2006 at the Samsung booth, #11033 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 5th – 8th.
“Consumers love taking pictures with their cell-phones, but they’re disappointed by the poor image quality,” said Mark Farish, Digital Media Products Sr. Marketing Manager, Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung’s digital imaging expertise allows us to offer consumers improved digital picture quality while enjoying their favorite music. The YP-D1 allows users to experience both visual and audio entertainment in one portable, easy to use device.”
Available in 1GB and 2GB models, the YP-D1 allows consumers to zoom up to 4X to snap that perfect shot with the 2MP digital camera. Photos can be viewed with ease on the player’s 1.8″ 260K color TFT-LCD screen. In addition to taking great pictures, the device plays MPEG4 video and supports MP3, WMA, OGG, JPEG, and text files. The built-in speaker lets the unit double as a mini-radio, allowing users to listen to music while playing back pictures. The YP-D1’s voice recording capability lets users can record audio to go along with their photos.
