Aventiv USA Unveils NomaDesk® - The First Virtual File Network Designed for Nomadic Business Professionals
General Press Releases February 13th, 2008
Mobile Business Teams Can Now Securely Create Shared Team-Document Workspaces, File-Blogs and Encrypted Personal Drives without Expensive Servers or Technical Knowledge
Aventiv USA has introduced version 2.1 of NomaDesk® (www.nomadesk.com), an innovative document collaboration solution that enables mobile business teams of two to 25 to intuitively manage, edit, share and synchronize documents anywhere – even when offline. Jeff Jochum, the company’s chief marketing officer, made the announcement.
With NomaDesk, business teams can share a ‘team-document workspace’ that provides enterprise-grade security and is both password-protected and encrypted.
Jochum said NomaDesk workspaces automatically and dynamically synchronize and update when users are connected to the internet. A simple email invite/respond system allows users to build and lead a business team, effortlessly.
“With NomaDesk, there’s no need for expensive servers, complex software, training or high-priced IT personnel,” Jochum said. “The workspaces are seamlessly integrated with Windows® Explorer, and there are no limits on storage or bandwidth.”
Jochum added that NomaDesk is a B2B application based on the newest Virtual File Network (VFN) technology specifications. “VFN is the next logical step after VPN [Virtual Private Network] and has enabled us to quickly develop a best-of-class file-sharing groupware solution, without the hindrance of an intranet or hardware servers. VFN enabled us to provide a seamless, single point of secure, synchronized and shared file storage.“
Other new features include File Blog, Enabling NomaDesk workspace owners to publish files and documents to an unlimited number of subscribers. And, since each invitee has the right to freely invite anyone they choose to share the File-Blog, the volume of participants often grows virally, dramatically increasing the File-Blogger’s marketing reach. “This works just like normal blogging, except with documents and files,” Jochum said. “The result is a vast membership who will always have the most up-to-date information, right on their desktop, readable even while offline.”
Also added in this release is Email2Folder™, allowing team documents or files to be incorporated into a NomaDesk workspace by sending the file as an attachment from any email-enabled device, including mobile phones, laptops and PCs. When an email with files attached is received, the NomaDesk servers separate the message text from any attachment and place both as files in a designated folder on a workspace. “With Email2Folder you can easily open your NomaDesk workspace so that even non-team members can add documents to a shared folder without having any other access to it,” Jochum said.
Updated in this new version is FileLink™, useful when you want to send large files without burdening the email server, or when attached files are rejected because of firewall issues. With FileLink, the recipient receives an email containing a link to a file and an expiration date. The originator is notified when the file is downloaded.
NomaDesk 2.1 is currently in beta-test and is available at no cost to new users during this testing period. Registration and dashboard download is available at www.NomaDesk.com.
