Mumbai, Feb 15th, 2008 – Vakow! today announced the support for picture messaging allowing its users to upload picture messages created by them to their online collection and share with their friends for free.

Picture messaging is an old (almost forgotten) and established technology to exchange tiny black and white images through regular SMSes. Vakow! is aiming to give it a fresh start by allowing users to create and upload their own pictures.

“Though picture messages are very small in size and only black and white in colour, they come with the reliability of SMSes and carry the quirkyness of smileys”, said Rahul Gupta, CEO of the startup he launched 4 months ago. “The way people use smileys in an IM conversation, people would rather use pictures to express themselves better and hence the idea of letting users upload picture messages created by them.”, he added.

Like other SMS Forwards on Vakow!, users can also tag picture messages as per its appropriate category and search through them. Picture Messaging works on regular SMS technology and is supported on almost all GSM phones.
