Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) today announced the availability of its latest NL35 Series SATA disc drives to the worldwide distribution channel. With a half-terabyte (500GBs) of capacity, the latest NL35 Series SATA disc drive provides the bulk storage necessary for cost-effective nearline RAID storage in the enterprise. The NL35 Series SATA drives are optimized for tasks such as data management, backup/recovery and fixed content storage.
“Seagate is seeing that the opportunities for the nearline business are moving into a cycle of high demand, a trend that IDC also recently affirmed when they stated the market for high-capacity, low-cost storage was primed for significant growth,” said Sherman Black, Seagate senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage. “As a result, the timing for entry of our NL35 Series product – and especially our new 500GB model – couldn’t be better. Nearline is moving from a small niche segment to what’s becoming an explosive growth opportunity in the enterprise line.”
