IBM Number One in Worldwide Branded Tape Revenue
IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that IDC, a leading IT market research and advisory firm, has reported that for Q3′07, IBM was once again the number one tape product vendor in the world, based on branded tape revenue (1). Overall, IBM captured 34.6 percent of the total branded tape revenue global market for Q3′07.
This latest report from IDC titled “IDC Worldwide Branded Tape 3Q’07 Vendor Analysis” marks the fifteenth consecutive quarter that IBM has held the number-one position in worldwide branded total tape revenue. In the history of IDC tracking quarterly branded tape revenue results, IBM is the only company to have fifteen consecutive quarters of worldwide branded tape revenue leadership.
“Addressing different storage access and retention requirements today is a significant challenge for IT administrators,” said Cindy Grossman, Vice President, Tape Storage Solutions, IBM. “Exploiting a tiered storage hierarchy that includes disk, tape and virtualization can significantly address this challenge — and its clear from fifteen consecutive quarters of leadership that IBM’s tape storage offerings are addressing total cost of ownership, energy, data protection, data security, compliance and archive issues for customers.”
