Built to Order homebuilder takes top spot on 26th annual list
KB Home (NYSE: KBH), one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, today announced it has once again been ranked the #1 homebuilder in FORTUNE magazine’s list of America’s Most Admired Companies®. This marks the second time that KB Home has received this recognition, having been ranked #1 in 2006.
FORTUNE’s list of America’s Most Admired Companies is the definitive report card on corporate reputations. FORTUNE and its survey partners at Hay Group started with the FORTUNE 1,000—the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue—and the top foreign companies operating in the U.S. They sorted the companies by industry and selected the ten largest companies in each. To create the 64 industry lists, Hay Group asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate companies in their own industry on eight criteria, from investment value to social responsibility. This year only the best are listed —a company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to appear in the magazine list. A total of 622 companies in 65 industries were surveyed for this year’s rankings.
“This is a prestigious honor and accomplishment for our company that speaks volumes about how our peers view us,” said Jeffrey Mezger, president and chief executive officer of KB Home. “It is a reflection of our commitment to our customers, employees, shareholders and the communities in which we build, and we are deeply honored by this news.”
FORTUNE magazine’s complete list of America’s Most Admired Companies can be found in the March 17 issue, available on newsstands March 10.
