Answers Corporation (NADSAQ: ANSW) creators of the leading answer engine offering Answers.com™ and WikiAnswers.com™, today announced the winners of its first AnswerThon™ , a contest in which participants had 48 hours to answer as many questions as possible. The first-place winner submitted 552 valid entries. AnswerThon contestants tackled questions as part of the WikiAnswers “Social Knowledge” community; WikiAnswers is the user-generated Q&A site where visitors answer question about subjects they know and ask about subject they don’t.

Coinciding with the announcement, the question count on WikiAnswers surpassed two million with the question: “Where is the oil drain plug on a 2008 Toyota Sienna?”

According to Jay Bailey, Director of Community Development, “The growth trend here is phenomenal: It took five years to generate the first million questions, and then less than five months to go from one million to two million. It was exciting to have the AnswerThon contestants racing not only for prizes, but toward that milestone as well.”

The winners of the AnswerThon contest were:

1st Place: Aggie80

2nd Place: Steven Keyman

3rd Place: Zanzabe

“We sensed real enthusiasm as over one thousand members of the WikiAnswers community from around the globe signed up to participate in the AnswerThon,” added Bailey. “The competitive spirit is a constructive way to get the community even more energized and involved in the growth of this Social Knowledge phenomenon. We look forward to hosting more challenges like this in the future.”
