Adobe Funds Seattle-Area Community Initiatives
Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced philanthropic funding for the second half of 2005 from the Adobe Action Grants program. This funding is one part of a multi-faceted approach to community involvement that encompasses investment grants, software donations, employee volunteerism and scholarships. The Adobe Action Grants program provides one-time, cash only grants that are issued quarterly to non-profit organizations operating in the communities where Adobe has a significant presence. During this funding cycle, Adobe is providing $144,000 to 17 Seattle area non-profit organizations. These organizations play vital roles in the community, delivering programs in education, the arts, the environment and alleviating hunger and homelessness.
“The Adobe Action Grants program has made it possible to support a greater number of more diverse community groups than ever before,” said Michelle Mann, senior group manager of Corporate Affairs and Community Relations at Adobe. “That diversity reflects our focus on encouraging creativity in K-12 education and our commitment to the overall improvement of the community.”
Among the organizations that benefited during Adobe’s second half grant cycle was the Pomegranate Center, a non-profit community design and development organization that dedicates itself to linking art with social and environmental issues. The Adobe grant will support its Community Gathering Places program which links art, environment, hands-on education and social engagement into a unique cutting-edge curriculum, promoting safer, healthier, more vibrant neighborhoods and communities.
